Marko Bongo
Bongo began exploring his passion for drumming and music when his father who is also an accomplished drummer introduced him as a child to his first drum. From that moment he started to play and it was evident that this was going to be more then just a hobby.
Having had the chance to travel and live in various parts of the world, ha has been able to learn and capture different sounds, beats and rhythms that are heard during his performances. Marko is of Armenian heritage, this has provided him with a continuous exposure to Mediterranean & Middle Eastern music styles. To add, his child hood up bringing took place in Morocco, allowing him to embrace the exotic and distinct Iberican sound which has roots in Mediterranean Spanish, Gypsy and North African (Bedouin) rhythms. This spurned a passion for learning and exploring different styles of music such as Afro-Latin, Arabic, jazz, funk, house and many others. Today Marko unleashes his experience infusing an array of global rhythms that radiate through a unique percussion and drumming expression.
In 2002, he began performing at local venues in Toronto and rapidly built a loyal following. This appeal caught the attention of international promoters, and lead to numerous performances around the world. As his brand continues to impact and grow world-wide he has now started producing original tracks and being featured along side international artists.
