1. The Black Pump

The best and most versatile pair of high heels you can own are classic black pumps. Chosen wisely, these shoes will work for you in almost all of your wardrobe scenarios. They are appropriate for the office, for a dinner, a night out and everything in between. Unless you’re absolutely dead-set on it, these shoes should probably not be open-toed – save that for your “fun” pair (which we’ll examine later.) A simple rounded toe is timeless, as well as the most acceptable for a variety of environments. As far as heel height goes, go only as high as you’re comfortable. The point of these shoes are to be your staple, not what you dread wearing because they are so painful. That being said, don’t make the heel too tall. If this is the only pair you plan on investing in, try and select ones that don’t have an exceptionally high toe platform. The super-tall look is very of-the-moment, but it may not be well suited for a more conservative or corporate environment. As for textures – feel free to play around. Personally, I prefer black patent since it is sleek and easy to clean.

2. The Metallic Strappy Sandal

I have heard many people be quite shocked when I suggest this as a shoe closet staple. I think a common misconception is that gold, silver or sparkly heels will be loud and flashy. This might be the case with some, but overall, these are actually a very elegant and versatile evening shoe. Whether you’re pairing it with a cocktail dress for a wedding, or throwing them on with jeans and a flowy top for drinks with the girls, these shoes will help to add that delicate edge to your outfit. The fact that they are metallic actually helps them to blend in, as they will reflect whatever colors you’re wearing.

3. The “Statement” Shoe

This shoe can be any kind you like! Obviously this is a fairly exciting option, and I would encourage you to make the most of it. This will be the pair of heels that you turn to when you need to spice up an otherwise plain outfit. They might not go with everything – but that’s okay, they’re not supposed to. Since they will be your fun shoe, they can (and should) be a little bit more unique. Shoes that fall into this category can be fun colors and prints, or perhaps even something that falls on the other end of the spectrum. Another perfectly reasonable alternative to a “statement” shoe would be to go with a nude pump. These are great for elongating the legs and providing some variety in your wardrobe (for days when you don’t feel like going to the classic black version.) Again, a good nude pump will work in formal and casual environments, too.

4. The Wedge

Wedges are known for being the most comfortable heels to walk in. Since they are not a stick-like heel, they provide more support for your foot and thus are much easier to wear for extended periods of time. Wedges can be right for all different kinds of occasions – with the right color and texture, they can be worn in fancy environments, and otherwise they can be a perfect compliment to a flirty summer dress or cropped jeans. I personally prefer wedges to fall into the more casual category, but you can style them however you like. Just as you have with the “Statement Shoe”, I’d feel free to play around with some colors or textures with the wedge heels. Since they are more casual by nature, you can get away with it!

Ingredients:

- 1.5 oz. ABSOLUT Mandarin

- 3.0 oz. White Cranberry Juice

- Watermelon piece

Directions:

1. Add Absolut Mandarin, Watermelon slice, white cranberry and ice into a martini shaker.

2. Shake vigorously (especially so since you want to extract the watermelon flavors)

3. Strain into a martini glass
